Obituary for G. Schuyler Ramm
G. Schuyler Ramm, 91, of Lock Haven passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Susque View Home, Lock Haven.
Born on November 28, 1926 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late George and Grace Schuyler Ramm.
Schuyler graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1945.
He then served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman during WWII and the Korean War.
On February 7, 1948, he married the love of his life, the former Geraldine Kemmerer, who survives.
Schuyler attended Eckel’s College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia.
After graduating, he worked as a funeral director in St. Mary’s. He then was employed at the John Yost Funeral Home in Lock Haven before purchasing the Ramm Funeral Home in Loganton in 1957, retiring from there after 33 years of serving the Loganton community. During this time, Schuyler also owned and operated Ramm Monuments for 20 years.
Schuyler was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
Active in the community, he was a charter member of the Sugar Valley Lions Club, a past Sugar Valley School District School Board member, a member of both the Lafayette Blue Lodge of Williamsport and Altoona Jaffa Shrine for over 70 years, and was active in the Loganton United Methodist Church.
After retiring, Schuyler volunteered for many years at Meals on Wheels in Lock Haven, enjoying the many people he interacted with there.
In addition to his wife, Geraldine Ramm, he is survived by his daughter, Sherry R. (Robert) Holler of Pottstown; two grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Holler and Amanda (Scott) Holler Weiss; and four great grandchildren: Ethan Kent, Joseph Holler, Claire Holler, and Zachary Schuyler Weiss.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Ramm.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Liberty United Methodist Church, 637 Island Rd., Lock Haven with Rev. Roger Yoder and Rev. Kenneth Guisewite officiating. Private burial will take place at Dunnstown Cemetery.
Friend and family will be received at the church on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 7 until 9 P.M.
